Over the weekend, Love Island USA star Kendall Washington was thrown to the internet wolves when several sexually explicit videos of him were leaked online. The leak happened on the same night as the season six finale, Sunday, July 21, which added to the controversy as Kendall was a finalist on the popular dating reality show.

Not only were the videos posted without Kendall’s consent, but she also couldn’t access her phone and defend herself from the amount of online vitriol, much of which was anti-gay and homophobic in nature, due to the nature of the videos being filtered. The situation was absolutely awful and regardless of Kendall’s opinions on her time on Love Island USA, no one should have to deal with this breach of privacy and trust.

Before Washington could use his own phone, his sister Taylor Washington fired back at him.

She took to her Instagram Story and posted dozens of screenshots of posts supporting X.

“@LoveIsland I really hope you have important mental health resources available to you so that you don’t come back from this experience knowing that you were unfairly exposed to the general backlash of reality TV,” Taylor wrote on her Story. “If anyone has had suicides committed by people who were on their show, I hope everyone resolves this quickly.”

Finally, after weeks spent in the Love Island villa, isolated from the outside world and without access to her own social media accounts, Kendall took to her own Instagram Story to address the situation.

“What a way to get my phone back,” she wrote. “I just want to address the content that has come out of my past.”

“This was something I shared with someone privately,” he continued. “It’s a shame it’s not private anymore, but it is what it is.”

In a way, we support this response: we accept it and move on! Regardless, we hope we see some consequences for whoever is responsible for the leak and that Kendall gets the support she deserves.
