Windstruck shares the same leading actress and director as an earlier popular South Korean film, My Sassy Girl (also uploaded on this channel). As a result, Windstruck contains several subtle references to the previous film. It is also worth noting that throughout both movies Jun Ji-hyun's characters have an overall cheerful and sassy personality but soon revealing sadness and emotion.
